The Northern Irishman was victorious on Lakeside when he played Tricole in the final and will face the French Touch again in the doubles final at the Bonte Wever.
Neil Duff and Barry Copeland made it to the final at the doubles tournament of the Dutch Open Darts. After a long day, playing and winning nine matches, they assured themselves of a place in the final by beating Danny van Trijp and Patrick van den Boogaard in the semi final (4-2).
On their way tot he final, Duff and Copeland had to overcome some heavy opposition. Marcel Snippe and Fabian Roosenbrand, for example, gave them a good fight at the last 32 and the semi final was also a quite tight match. Eventually the 4-2 victory over Van Trijp and Van den Boogaard was enough to play in the final against Thibault Tricole and Andy Baetens.
They survived the long Friday by beating Roy Gokoel and Erik van Rijswijk in the semis 4-1. Earlier in the tournament, they also beat players like Bradly Roes and Joppe Bakens. The final will be played on Sunday at the big stage in Assen and will be broadcast live by RTV Drenthe.
The doubles final in the ladies tournament will also be played on stage and is live on RTV Drenthe. In this match, Aileen de Graaf and Lerena Rietbergen will face Rhian O’Sulliva and Chris Savvery. Both overcame the whole ladies tournament and will be able to play in a full house in the Bonte Wever on Sunday. O’sullivan and Savvery being in the final is a surprise, since they beat Lisa Ashton and Maria O’Brien on the way.
