Will we see another Dutch women’s champion of the Dutch Open Darts in Priscilla Steenbergen, or will Norway’s Rachna David take the title on Sunday? The two players secured their places in the women’s final this Saturday after a long day of darts. We will definitely crown a new champion, as neither player has ever won the Dutch Open Darts before.
What a battle it was in the women’s event! Hundreds of players entered the singles tournament. Out of all these competitors, Priscilla and Rachna won all their matches to reach the prestigious final, which will be played on Sunday afternoon on the main stage at De Bonte Wever.
Dutch player Priscilla Steenbergen, a Lakeside semifinalist in Frimley Green last December, produced an impressive run of victories. In the last 16 she defeated compatriot Adriana van Wijgerden-Vermaat 4–0 in legs. She then won a thriller against Irina Armstrong, 4–3. In the semifinals she faced fellow Dutch player and Lakeside finalist Lerena Rietbergen. Priscilla claimed a strong 4–2 victory to secure her place on the big stage.
Solid run for David
Opponent Rachna David also came through several tough matches. In the last 16 she survived a thriller against multiple Dutch Open Darts champion Aileen de Graaf, winning 4–3. She then beat English top talent Paige Pauling 4–2 in the quarterfinals. David repeated that 4–2 scoreline in the semifinals against England’s Paula Jacklin to book her spot in Sunday’s final.
The NDB wishes Priscilla and Rachna the best of luck in the women’s final on the main stage at De Bonte Wever!
