Beau Greaves and Jo Rolls have successfully defended their title in the women’s pairs tournament, just as they did last year. In the final, they defeated Aileen de Graaf and Anca Zijlstra 4-2.
The first senior final on the schedule at the Bonte Wever was the women’s pairs final. Beau Greaves and Jo Rolls were one win away from claiming their second consecutive title at the Dutch Open Darts. The English duo had not lost a single leg on their way to the final. They faced a Dutch team consisting of the experienced Aileen de Graaf and Anca Zijlstra. Could the Dutch pair challenge the English duo?
The Dutch team started the match with better scoring, but missed doubles allowed Greaves and Rolls to close the gap. Rolls eventually couldn’t finish 50, allowing De Graaf to hold her leg with a double 4. In the second leg, Zijlstra had a chance to break but missed a 94 finish on the bullseye. Greaves kept her cool and hit double 10 to make it 1-1. The third leg was messy, with three of the four ladies failing to hit a full turn. In the end, it was De Graaf who put her team back in front with a double 5, making it 2-1. In the fourth leg, Zijlstra had multiple chances to break, but once again failed to capitalize. Greaves stayed sharp and leveled the score at 2-2.
The fifth leg seemed to be the turning point of the match. With scores of 100, 140, and 95, the English pair took the initiative away from the Dutch team. After Rolls missed 114, Greaves returned to hit double 9 for the first break of the match. In the sixth leg, Greaves went on fire. With two 180s from the English player, Zijlstra and De Graaf were unable to keep up. Greaves and Rolls clinched the victory with a double 4, successfully defending their pairs title at the TOTO Dutch Open Darts!
