Vincent D’Hondt does it again. After winning the TOTO Dutch Open Paradarts Wheelchair tournament in 2023 and 2024, he adds another title to his collection. An impressive achievement by this Belgian at the world’s largest darts tournament.
Serge van Belle started the match slowly. In the first leg, he needed some time to find his rhythm. D’Hondt immediately seized his chance and easily took the first leg.
Both men were clearly warmed up after this first leg and started scoring high. Van Belle began strongly with a 140 score. Vincent kept up and surpassed Van Belle. After 17 darts, D’Hondt finished the second leg for a 2-0 lead.
The third leg was closely contested between the two Belgians. The scoring in this leg was very high, but both struggled with their doubles. They both needed several darts, but Van Belle eventually finished it off with double 8. The score was now 2-1.
This seemed to be the turning point for Serge. In leg 4, he hit three 100 scores and was set up for a finish on his seventh turn. However, he couldn’t hit double 5, and D’Hondt seized the opportunity. Vincent capitalized and took a 3-1 lead.
D’Hondt gained confidence from this substantial lead. The final and winning leg started strong for him with several high scores. Van Belle didn’t give up and hit a 140 score, leaving him waiting on 56 for the finish. With a final attempt to get back into the match, it still seemed possible. However, Vincent D’Hondt kept his composure and finished his winning leg in seven darts to secure his third consecutive title!
